1. Locate the idle speed control valve. This is usually located on the throttle body.
2. Start the engine and let it warm up to operating temperature.
3. Connect a tachometer to the engine.
4. Turn the idle speed control valve clockwise to increase the idle speed, or counterclockwise to decrease it.
5. Adjust the idle speed until it is within the desired range.
6. Turn off the engine and disconnect the tachometer.

- Make sure that the engine is turned off before you start working on it.
- Be careful not to over-tighten the idle speed control valve. This can damage the valve or the throttle body.
