2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
3. Locate the oil drain plug. On the BMW 1 Series, it is located on the bottom of the oil pan.
4. Place an oil drain pan under the oil drain plug.
5. Use a wrench to loosen the oil drain plug.
6. Allow the oil to drain completely into the oil drain pan.
7. Once the oil has drained, replace the oil drain plug.
8. Tighten the oil drain plug until it is snug.
9. Dispose of the old oil properly.
10. Refill the engine with new oil.
