- 13 mm socket
-15 mm socket
- 18mm socket
- Flathead screwdriver
- Brake cleaner
- New brake pads
- New rotors (optional)
Procedure:
Step 1: Park the car on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
Step 2: Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels with the 17mm socket.
Step 3: Raise the front of the car with the floor jack and place jack stands under the pinch welds near the front wheels.
Step 4: Remove the lug nuts and wheels.
Step 5: Use the 15 mm socket to remove the two bolts holding the brake caliper in place.
Step 6: Remove the brake caliper and hang it out of the way with a piece of wire or bungee cord.
Step 7: Use the 18mm socket to remove the two bolts holding the rotor in place.
Step 8: Remove the rotor and inspect it for wear or damage.
Step 9: If the rotors are worn or damaged, replace them with new ones.
Step 10: Clean the brake caliper and mounting surfaces with brake cleaner.
Step 11: Apply a thin coat of brake grease to the back of the new brake pads.
Step 12: Install the new brake pads into the brake caliper.
Step 13:Reinstall the brake caliper and tighten the bolts.
Step 14: Reinstall the rotor and tighten the bolts.
Step 15: Reinstall the wheels and lug nuts.
Step 16: Lower the car and remove the jack stands.
Step 17: Pump the brake pedal several times to seat the new brake pads against the rotor.
Step 18: Go for a test drive and check the brakes for proper operation.
