How do you replace the bulb on your 2005 vw golf heater control?

To replace the climate control light bulb in your 2005 Volkswagen Golf:

  1. Park your vehicle and allow it to cool down completely, especially if it has been running and the light has been on.
  2. Locate the lighting knob near the bottom left corner of the climate control panel. (it has the small light icon to the left of it)
  3. Gently pry around the knob with a small flat-head screwdriver or similar tool to pop it out of its housing.
  4. Twist the light socket assembly counter-clockwise to release it.
  5. Gently pull the light socket assembly down. Set aside.
  6. Grip the bulb gently and pull it straight out from the socket. Be sure not to drop the bulb.
  7. Take the new bulb and insert it straight into the socket, lining up the small pin on the bulb with the indentation in the socket.
  8. Once the new bulb is in the socket, gently push the light assembly back into the climate control panel. Be careful not to push too hard, as you don't want to damage the light assembly or the surrounding trim.

  9. Insert the bulb assembly into the panel and twist clockwise to lock in place.
  10. Gently push the lighting knob back into place until it clicks.
