- Flat-head screwdriver
- C-clamp
- Brake fluid
- Brake fluid reservoir
- Wrench
Instructions
1. Chock the front wheels and engage the parking brake.
2. Raise the rear of the car using a floor jack and place it on jack stands. Make sure the car is safely secured before proceeding.
3. Locate the brake caliper on the rear wheel. It is the metal housing that contains the brake pads and piston.
4. Remove the two bolts that hold the caliper in place. These are located at the top and bottom of the caliper.
5. Once the bolts are removed, the caliper should come off easily. If the piston will not go back in, use the flat-head screwdriver to pry it back into the caliper.
6. Once the piston is back in, use the C-clamp to compress the brake caliper. This will help to push the piston back into the caliper.
7. Add brake fluid to the brake fluid reservoir.
8. Reinstall the caliper and bolts. Tighten the bolts until they are snug.
9. Lower the vehicle off the jack stands.
10. Test the brakes before driving the car.
