1. Turn the ignition key to the "On" position, but do not start the engine.
2. Press and hold the "Code" button on the radio.
3. While holding the "Code" button, enter the four-digit radio code using the radio presets buttons 1-4. Use the following buttons:
* Preset 1: Enter the first digit of the code
* Preset 2: Enter the second digit of the code
* Preset 3: Enter the third digit of the code
* Preset 4: Enter the fourth digit of the code
4. After entering the correct radio code, the radio will beep and the display will show "Code Accepted."
5. The radio will automatically turn on and exit safe mode.
If you do not have the original radio code for your 1999 Volkswagen Cabrio, you can retrieve it by following these steps:
1. Contact a Volkswagen dealership and provide them with the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for your vehicle.
2. They will be able to retrieve the original radio code and provide it to you.
You can also try online or through a local service center to retrieve the code but it is often faster to go through a VW dealership.
