How do you push back the caliper on rear brakes a golf 2001?

To push back the caliper on the rear brakes of a 2001 Volkswagen Golf, you will need the following tools:

- A flathead screwdriver

- A C-clamp or large pliers

Instructions:

1. Park your car on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

2. Loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheels, but do not remove them completely.

3. Jack up the rear of the car and support it with jack stands.

4. Remove the lug nuts and wheels.

5. Locate the caliper on the rear of the brake rotor. The caliper is the housing that contains the brake pads.

6. Insert the flathead screwdriver between the brake pad and the rotor. Pry the screwdriver against the rotor to push the caliper piston back into the caliper.

7. Continue prying the caliper piston back until it is fully seated in the caliper.

8. If the caliper piston is difficult to push back, you can use a C-clamp or large pliers to compress the caliper piston. To do this, place the C-clamp or pliers on the caliper piston and slowly tighten the clamp or pliers until the piston is fully seated.

9. Once the caliper piston is fully seated, reinstall the wheels and lug nuts.

10. Lower the car and remove the jack stands.

11. Test the brakes by applying pressure to the brake pedal. The brakes should feel firm and should not make any unusual noises.

Note: If you are unable to push the caliper piston back into the caliper, you may need to replace the brake pads or calipers.
