Removal of starter on 1989 Volvo 240?

Tools needed:

- Wrench set

- Socket set

- Screwdriver

- Pliers

Instructions:

1. Disconnect the battery. This is important to prevent any electrical accidents while you are working on the starter.

2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. This will give you more room to work.

3. Locate the starter. It is located on the passenger side of the engine, near the bottom.

4. Disconnect the electrical connections to the starter. There will be two or three wires that connect to the starter. Use a screwdriver to pry off the connectors.

5. Remove the bolts that hold the starter in place. There are two or three bolts that hold the starter in place. Use a wrench or socket to remove the bolts.

6. Remove the starter. Once the bolts are removed, you can remove the starter by pulling it straight out. Be careful not to drop it.

Tips:

* If you are having trouble removing the starter, you may need to use a pry bar to help you.

* Be sure to put the bolts back in the same place you took them out of.

* When you reconnect the battery, be sure to connect the positive terminal first.
