Before starting any work, ensure the engine is cool.
Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
Locate the distributor. It is on the left side of the engine near the front.
Remove the distributor cap and rotor.
Remove the mounting bolt and washer.
Gently pull the distributor upwards and out of the engine.
Inspect the distributor gear and the camshaft gear for damage. If either gear is damaged, it will need to be replaced.
Apply a small amount of assembly lube to the distributor gear.
Insert the distributor into the engine, aligning the gear teeth with the camshaft gear.
Install the mounting bolt and washer.
Install the rotor and distributor cap.
Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
Start the engine and check for proper timing.
