How do you change the water pump belt on 1996 Ford Probe?

Tools and Materials Needed:

- Replacement water pump belt (refer to your vehicle's owner's manual for the correct size)

- Socket set

- Ratchet

- Screwdriver

- Pliers

Instructions:

1. Park your vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake. Allow the engine to cool down if it has been recently running.

2. Open the hood of your vehicle. Locate the water pump belt. It is usually located on the front of the engine, near the bottom.

3. Loosen the tensioner pulley bolt. This bolt is usually located on the side of the tensioner pulley. Use a socket and ratchet to loosen the bolt, but do not remove it completely.

4. Use a screwdriver to pry the tensioner pulley away from the belt. This will loosen the belt and allow you to remove it.

5. Remove the old water pump belt. Once the belt is loose, you can remove it by hand.

6. Install the new water pump belt. Start by looping the belt around the water pump pulley, then the tensioner pulley, and finally the crankshaft pulley.

7. Tighten the tensioner pulley bolt. Use a socket and ratchet to tighten the bolt until the belt is snug. Do not over-tighten the bolt, as this can damage the belt.

8. Close the hood of your vehicle. Your water pump belt is now changed.

Tips:

- If you have difficulty removing the old water pump belt, you can use a pair of pliers to grip and pull on it.

- When installing the new water pump belt, make sure that it is routed correctly. The belt should run around the water pump pulley, then the tensioner pulley, and finally the crankshaft pulley.
