How do you take off distributor cap from a 1991 740 volvo?

To remove the distributor cap from a 1991 740 Volvo, you will need the following tools:

- #2 Phillips Head Screwdriver

- 10 mm Socket and Ratchet

Instructions:

STEP 1: Disable your car's ignition by turning the ignition switch to the "off" position, then open your Volvo's hood.

STEP 2: Locate the distributor cap. The distributor cap is located on the front of the engine, near the top. It is a round, black plastic cap with a single electrical connector on top.

STEP 3: Remove the electrical connector from the distributor cap. Press down on the release tab on the electrical connector, then pull it straight up and off of the distributor cap.

STEP 4: Remove the four screws that hold the distributor cap in place. Use a #2 Phillips head screwdriver to remove the four screws that hold the cap in place. The screws are located around the perimeter of the distributor cap.

STEP 5: Lift the distributor cap off of the distributor. Once the screws are removed, you can lift the distributor cap straight up and off of the distributor.

STEP 6: Remove the old distributor rotor from the distributor shaft. The distributor rotor is located inside the distributor cap. Pull the rotor straight up off of the distributor shaft.

STEP 7: Install a new distributor rotor and cap. Place the new rotor on the distributor shaft, then press down on it until it is fully seated. Install the new distributor cap by placing it over the distributor and pressing down on it until it clicks into place.

STEP 8: Reattach the electrical connector to the distributor cap. Press down on the release tab on the electrical connector, then insert the connector into the port on the distributor cap.
