- Transmission issues:
- Transmission fluid level low or dirty: Check and add transmission fluid if necessary.
- Transmission filter clogged or dirty: Replace transmission filter.
- Transmission worn out or damaged: May require repair or replacement of transmission.
- Electrical issues:
- Reverse light switch faulty: Replace reverse light switch.
- Wiring issue in the reverse circuit: Check and repair any damaged wiring.
- Mechanical issues:
- Driveshaft out of place or damaged: Inspect and repair or replace driveshaft as needed.
- Differential fluid level low or dirty: Check and add differential fluid if necessary.
- Parking brake engaged: Release the parking brake.

Additional tips:
- If your vehicle is an automatic, try shifting it from "D" (Drive) to "R" (Reverse) while holding down the brake pedal.
- Try turning off the engine and restarting it.
- You can also try rocking your car back and forth, holding the transmission in "R" and pushing the gas pedal while alternately engaging and releasing the brake pedal.
