How do you add oil to replace lost fluid from a leaking rear axle on Bobcat 440 skidsteer loader?

- Replacement axle oil

- Funnel or oil pump

- Wrench

- Rags

Instructions

1. Park the skid steer loader on a level surface. Engage the parking brake.

2. Turn off the engine and let it cool down. The transmission fluid must be cool when measuring the level or checking for leaks.

3. Locate the axle oil fill plug and drain plug. The fill plug is typically located on the top of the axle housing, while the drain plug is located on the bottom.

4. Place a drain pan under the drain plug.

5. Use a wrench to loosen the drain plug and let the old axle oil drain out.

6. Replace the drain plug and tighten it securely.

7. Locate the axle oil fill plug.

8. Use a wrench to loosen the fill plug.

9. Use a funnel or oil pump to add new axle oil to the housing. Fill it to the bottom of the fill plug opening.

10. Replace the fill plug and tighten it securely.

11. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to circulate the new axle oil.

12. Check for any leaks. You may have to top up the oil level depending on what was lost if any leaked out.
