- Phillips head screwdriver
- Steering wheel puller (if necessary)
1. Disconnect the battery. This is important to prevent any electrical accidents while you are working on the steering wheel. To do this, use a wrench to loosen the negative battery terminal (the one marked with a "-"). Once the terminal is loose, remove it from the battery post.
2. Remove the steering wheel cover. The steering wheel cover is usually held in place by a few screws. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove these screws, and then gently pry the cover off.
3. Disconnect the airbag connector. The airbag connector is located behind the steering wheel. To disconnect it, simply press the release button and pull the connector apart. Be careful not to damage the connector or the airbag.
4. Remove the steering wheel nut. The steering wheel nut is located in the center of the steering wheel. Use a socket wrench to loosen the nut, and then remove it by hand.
5. Pull the steering wheel off the steering shaft. Once the nut is removed, you can pull the steering wheel off the steering shaft. If the steering wheel is stuck, you may need to use a steering wheel puller to remove it.
6. Install the new steering wheel. To install the new steering wheel, simply reverse the steps above. Make sure to tighten the steering wheel nut securely, and reconnect the airbag connector.
7. Reconnect the battery. Once the steering wheel is installed, you can reconnect the battery. To do this, simply replace the negative battery terminal onto the battery post and tighten it with a wrench.
