1. Park the Bobcat 873 on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.

2. Locate the spool valve on the Bobcat 873.

The spool valve is located under the seat on the right-hand side of the machine.
3. Remove the hydraulic fluid filter.

Use the fluid filter wrench to loosen the hydraulic fluid filter and then remove it by hand.
4. Remove the spool valve mounting bolts.

Use the 1/2-inch wrench to loosen the two spool valve mounting bolts and then remove them by hand.
5. Remove the spool valve from the machine.

Use the flat-head screwdriver to pry the spool valve out of the machine. Be careful not to damage the O-rings.
6. Inspect the spool valve for damage.

Inspect the spool valve for any damage, such as cracks, burrs, or scratches. If the spool valve is damaged, it will need to be replaced.
7. Replace the O-rings.
Use the 9/16-inch wrench to remove the old O-rings from the spool valve. Place the new O-rings on the spool valve and ensure they are seated properly.
8. Install the spool valve gasket.

Place the new spool valve gasket on the mounting surface and make sure it is seated properly.
9. Install the spool valve.

Place the spool valve back into the machine and ensure it is seated properly.
10. Install the spool valve mounting bolts.

Use the 1/2-inch wrench to install the two spool valve mounting bolts and then tighten them until they are snug.
11. Install the hydraulic fluid filter.
>
Use the fluid filter wrench to install the new hydraulic fluid filter until it is snug.
12. Add hydraulic oil.
>
Use a funnel to add hydraulic oil to the machine until it reaches the proper level, fill level can be viewed on fluid sight gauge.
13. Start the engine and check for leaks.

Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Inspect the area around the spool valve for any hydraulic oil leaks. If you find any leaks, tighten the spool valve mounting bolts or the hydraulic fluid filter until the leak stops.
