How do you change a water pump on 1998 Chevy k1500 4wd pickup?

Tools Needed:

- Socket set

- Wrench set

- Pliers

- Screwdriver

- Funnel

- Coolant

- New water pump

- Gasket

- Sealant

Instructions

1.) Begin by disconnecting the battery.

2.) Locate the water pump. It is usually near the front of the engine, on the passenger side. It is held onto place by bolts and screws.

3.) Remove the bolts and screws that hold the water pump in place.

4.) Remove the old water pump by carefully pulling it off the engine. Be careful not to spill any coolant.

5.) Clean the mating surface of the engine where the water pump was installed.

6.) Apply a thin layer of sealant to the mating surface of the engine.

7.) Install the new water pump gasket.

8.) Install the new water pump by carefully placing it onto the engine.

9.) Replace the bolts and screws that hold the water pump in place.

10.) Tighten the bolts and screws until they are snug.

11.) Reconnect the battery.

12.) Fill the cooling system with coolant.

13.) Check for leaks.

14.) Test the water pump by running the engine for a few minutes.
