1. Turn off the engine and allow the vehicle to cool down.
2. Open the hood and locate the neutral safety switch. It is usually located near the transmission.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the neutral safety switch.
4. Use a screwdriver or other tool to depress the release tab on the neutral safety switch.
5. Move the shift lever into the neutral position.
6. Release the release tab on the neutral safety switch.
7. Reconnect the electrical connector to the neutral safety switch.
8. Close the hood and start the engine.
9. Test the neutral safety switch by shifting the transmission into gear. The engine should only start when the transmission is in neutral.
If the neutral safety switch is still not working properly, you may need to replace it.
