Procedure:
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface.
2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down completely.
3. Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
4. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jack stands.
5. Drain the oil from the oil pan.
6. Remove the oil filter.
7. Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and remove the crankshaft pulley.
8. Remove the timing chain cover.
9. Remove the old front main seal using a pry bar or screwdriver.
10. Clean the sealing surface on the engine block and the crankshaft.
11. Apply a thin coat of sealant to the sealing surface on the engine block.
12. Press the new front main seal into place using your hands or a suitable tool.
13. Reinstall the timing chain cover.
14. Reinstall the crankshaft pulley.
15. Reinstall the crankshaft pulley bolt.
16. Refill the engine oil.
17. Replace the oil filter.
18. Reconnect the battery negative terminal.
19. Lower the vehicle off the jack stands.
Tips and Precautions:
- Make sure that the new front main seal is installed properly. An improperly installed seal will leak oil.
- Use caution when working with sharp tools and hot oil.
