Instructions:
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the upper timing belt cover.
3. Turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise until the timing mark on the pulley aligns with the "0" mark on the timing belt cover.
4. Insert the flat-head screwdriver into the slot in the camshaft pulley.
5. Turn the camshaft pulley counterclockwise until the timing mark on the pulley aligns with the "0" mark on the cylinder head.
6. Tighten the camshaft pulley bolt.
7. Remove the flat-head screwdriver from the camshaft pulley slot.
8. Check the timing belt tension using the feeler gauge. The correct tension is 0.020-0.035 inches.
9. If necessary, adjust the timing belt tension by loosening the timing belt tensioner pulley bolt and moving the pulley up or down.
10. Tighten the timing belt tensioner pulley bolt.
11. Reinstall the upper timing belt cover.
12. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
13. Start the engine and check the timing with a timing light. The timing should be set to 0 degrees before top dead center (BTDC).
14. If necessary, adjust the timing by loosening the distributor hold-down bolt and turning the distributor clockwise or counterclockwise.
15. Tighten the distributor hold-down bolt.
