2. Locate the timing mark on the engine. The timing mark is usually a small notch or line on the crankshaft pulley.
3. Locate the timing mark on the distributor. The timing mark on the distributor is usually a small notch or line on the distributor housing.
4. Connect a timing light to the engine. The timing light should be connected to the battery and to the number one spark plug wire.
5. Start the engine and let it idle.
6. Point the timing light at the timing marks on the engine and distributor. The timing marks should be aligned.
7. If the timing marks are not aligned, loosen the distributor hold-down bolt and turn the distributor until the timing marks are aligned.
8. Retighten the distributor hold-down bolt.
9. Turn off the engine and disconnect the timing light.
