1. Press and hold the ignition release button. The ignition release button is typically located on the side of the ignition switch.
2. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position.
3. Release the ignition release button.
4. Remove the key from the ignition.
With the Engine Off:
1. Insert the key into the ignition.
2. Turn the key to the "ON" position.
3. Press and hold the ignition release button.
4. Turn the key to the "OFF" position.
5. Release the ignition release button.
6. Remove the key from the ignition.
If the key is stuck in the ignition, there are a few things you can try:
* Check the key for any obstructions. Make sure there are no dirt, debris, or other objects blocking the keyway.
* Wiggle the key gently. Try wiggling the key back and forth while applying slight pressure.
* Use a lubricant. Spray a small amount of lubricant (such as WD-40) into the ignition lock cylinder.
* Tap the key with a hammer. Gently tap the key with a hammer or mallet to try to loosen it up.
* Call a locksmith. If you have tried all of the above and the key is still stuck, you may need to call a locksmith for assistance.
