Raise the vehicle on a jack. Make sure to secure it adequately to prevent any accidents.
Locate the handbrake lever inside the vehicle. It is usually located between the driver's and passenger's seats.
Pull up on the handbrake lever several times to engage the brake shoes.
While holding the lever in the engaged position, locate the adjustment nut underneath the vehicle. It is usually situated near the rear wheels.
Use a suitable wrench or socket to turn the adjustment nut clockwise until the handbrake lever can be pulled up to its maximum position with a firm resistance.
Lower the vehicle back down.
Test the handbrake by pulling up the lever and ensuring it holds the vehicle securely in place.
Repeat the process if necessary until the desired handbrake tension is achieved.
