Replacing battery on 1996 buick roadmaster wagon terminal straps removed no obvious hold down clamp yet will not budge?

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal first, so that you don't create a spark if you accidentally drop a tool onto the positive terminal. To do this, use a wrench to loosen the nut on the negative battery terminal, and disconnect the cable.

2. Disconnect the positive battery terminal. Be careful not to let the positive terminal come into contact with any metal surfaces, as this could cause a spark.

3. Remove the battery hold-down clamp. There is a hold down clamp on the battery that must be removed before the battery can be lifted out. This is usually a simple matter of unbolting the clamp. It is located on the side of the battery. Remove the nut and bolt, and lift the clamp off of the battery.

4. Remove the battery from the vehicle. Be careful when you lift the battery out, as it is heavy. It is best to use a battery carrier to lift the battery.
