1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
2. Chock the front wheels.
3. Raise the rear of the vehicle with a jack and support it on jack stands.
4. Remove the rear wheels.
5. Locate the brake drum adjustment slot on the back of the brake backing plate.
6. Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the slot and turn it clockwise until the brake shoes contact the drum.
7. Back off the adjuster until the brake drum can be turned freely by hand.
8. Reinstall the wheels and lower the vehicle.
9. Test the brakes by applying them several times before driving.
Note: If the brake shoes are worn, they will need to be replaced before adjusting the brakes.
