Tools and Materials Needed:
- Replacement Headlight bulbs (check your owner's manual for the correct type).
- Phillips-head screwdriver or Socket Wrench
- New Headlight Assembly (If necessary)
- A pair of clean gloves.
- Safety Glasses.
1. Park the vehicle in a safe, well-lit area. Make sure the engine is turned off and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Open the hood: To access the headlights, you need to open the hood of the truck. Release the hood latch located inside the vehicle, and then lift the hood and secure it with the prop rod.
3. Locate the headlight assembly: On a 1993 Ford F-350, the headlight assembly is located on the front of the vehicle, behind the clear headlight lens.
4. Remove the screws holding the headlight assembly: The headlight assembly is secured in place by several screws. Use the Phillips-head screwdriver or Socket Wrench to remove these screws and loosen the assembly.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector: Once the screws are removed, disconnect the electrical connector attached to the back of the headlight assembly. This connector supplies power to the headlight bulb.
6. Remove the old headlight bulb: Now, you can remove the old headlight bulb. Grasp the bulb and gently twist it counterclockwise to release it from its socket.
7. Install the new headlight bulb: Insert the new headlight bulb into the socket and turn it clockwise until it locks into place. Make sure the bulb is securely seated.
8. Reconnect the electrical connector: Reconnect the electrical connector that you disconnected earlier.
9. Replace the screws: Replace the screws that you removed earlier to secure the headlight assembly in place.
10. Test the headlights: Once the headlight assembly is secured, turn on the headlights to make sure they are working properly.
11. If both headlights are not working properly, check for a burnt headlight relay in the fuse box. The headlight relay is usually labeled as "Headlight" and is a small, black box located in the fuse box under the hood or behind the glove box.
12. Close the hood: If the headlights are working correctly, close the hood of the vehicle and you're done.
