1. Locate the ignition switch. In the 2000 Intrigue, the ignition switch is located on the steering column, just below the steering wheel.
2. Remove the steering column cover. There are two screws holding the steering column cover in place. Remove these screws and then lift the cover off.
3. Locate the ignition switch wiring harness. The ignition switch wiring harness is a bundle of wires that connects the ignition switch to the rest of the vehicle's electrical system. It is located behind the ignition switch.
4. Disconnect the ignition switch wiring harness. There is a plastic clip that holds the ignition switch wiring harness in place. Disconnect this clip and then pull the harness off of the ignition switch.
5. Identify the ignition switch wires. There are three wires in the ignition switch wiring harness: a red wire, a black wire, and a yellow wire. The red wire is the power wire, the black wire is the ground wire, and the yellow wire is the starter wire.
6. Connect the power wire to the starter wire. Use a piece of wire to connect the red power wire to the yellow starter wire.
7. Turn the key to the "On" position. This will power up the vehicle's electrical system.
8. Start the vehicle. Use a screwdriver to touch the black ground wire to the red power wire. This will start the vehicle.
NOTE: Bypassing the ignition switch is a temporary solution. You will need to have your vehicle repaired as soon as possible.
