1. Gather your tools and materials.
- You will need:
-A new windshield wiper motor
-A 10mm wrench
-A flat-head screwdriver
-A Phillips-head screwdriver
- A pair of pliers
2. Disconnect the battery.
-This will help to prevent any electrical accidents while you are working. To do this, simply loosen the negative terminal bolt and remove the cable.
3. Remove the windshield wiper arms.
-There are two bolts holding each wiper arm in place. Use a 10mm wrench to loosen the bolts and remove the wiper arms.
-Be careful not to drop the wiper arms on the windshield, as they could crack the glass.
4. Remove the wiper cowl.
-This is the plastic cover that sits at the base of the windshield and covers the wiper motor. To remove it, simply use a flat-head screwdriver to pry up the clips holding it in place and then lift it off.
5. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
-There are two electrical connectors that connect the wiper motor to the wiring harness. To disconnect them, simply press down on the tabs and pull them apart.
6. Remove the old wiper motor.
- There are three bolts holding the wiper motor in place. Use a 10mm wrench to loosen the bolts and remove the motor
7. Install the new wiper motor.
-Place the new wiper motor into the mounting bracket and secure it with the three bolts that you removed in the previous step.
8. Reconnect the electrical connectors.
- Simply plug the connectors back into the wiper motor.
9. Reinstall the windshield wiper arms.
- Slide the wiper arms back onto the splines of the wiper motor. Once the wiper arms are in place, use the bolts to secure them.
10. Reinstall the cowl.
- Simply press the clips into place.
11. Test the windshield wipers.
-Turn on the ignition and turn on the windshield wipers. They should work properly.
12. Reconnect the battery.
-Replace the negative battery cable and tighten the bolt to secure it.
That's it! You have now successfully replaced the windshield wiper motor on your 1992 Ford F-150.
