1. Safety Precautions:
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shock.
- Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling.
2. Remove Air Inlet Duct:
- Open the hood and remove the engine air inlet duct by loosening the clamps and sliding it out.
3. Locate the Starter:
- The starter is located on the driver's side of the engine near the bottom. It has electrical wires connected to it and a solenoid attached.
4. Disconnect Electrical Connections:
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the starter solenoid. Take note of the wiring positions for reinstallation.
5. Remove Starter Bolts:
- There are two bolts that secure the starter to the engine. Use a wrench to loosen and remove these bolts.
6. Remove Starter:
- Once the bolts are removed, gently pry the starter loose from the engine. Be careful not to drop any hardware into the engine bay.
7. Install New Starter:
- Position the new starter into place, aligning the mounting holes with the bolt holes in the engine.
- Insert the starter bolts and tighten them securely.
8. Reconnect Electrical Connections:
- Reattach the electrical connectors to the starter solenoid in the same positions as before.
9. Reinstall Air Inlet Duct:
- Reinstall the engine air inlet duct by sliding it back into place and securing it with the clamps.
10. Reconnect Battery:
- Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
11. Test the Starter:
- Turn the key in the ignition to the "Start" position to check if the starter cranks the engine.
12. Clean Up:
- Clean up any tools or debris that may have accumulated during the replacement process.
