- Jack and jack stands
- Lug wrench

Instructions:
1. Prepare your vehicle.
- Park your Oldsmobile Alero on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down completely.
- Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel that contains the faulty wheel bearing, but do not remove them yet.
2. Raise your vehicle.
- Place the jack under the frame of your Oldsmobile Alero, near the wheel with the faulty wheel bearing.
- Pump the jack handle until the tire is off the ground.
- Set the tire on a jack stand for added safety.
3. Remove the wheel.
- Use the lug wrench to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
4. Remove the brake caliper.
- Locate the brake caliper, which is mounted on the back of the wheel hub.
- Remove the two bolts that hold the brake caliper in place, using a socket wrench.
- Hang the brake caliper from the frame using a piece of wire or string.
5. Remove the rotor.
- The rotor is the disc-shaped metal piece behind the brake caliper.
- Remove the two bolts that hold the rotor in place, using a socket wrench.
- Pull the rotor off the wheel hub.
6. Remove the old wheel bearing.
- Behind the rotor, you'll see the wheel bearing. It is a metal ring with several ball bearings inside.
- Use a flat-blade screwdriver to pry the dust cover off the wheel bearing.
- Remove the snap ring that holds the wheel bearing in place, using a snap ring pliers.
- Now use a pry bar to pry the old wheel bearing out of the hub.
7. Install the new wheel bearing.
- Take your new wheel bearing and inspect it for damage. if there is damage, replace it.
- Apply some grease to the inside of the new wheel bearing.
- Press the new wheel bearing into place, using a press or a hammer.
- Install the snap ring to hold the wheel bearing in place.
- Replace the dust cover.
8. Reassemble the wheel hub.
- Reinstall the rotor onto the wheel hub.
- Secure the rotor with the two bolts.
- Reinstall the brake caliper onto the wheel hub.
- Secure the brake caliper with the two bolts.
9. Reinstall the wheel.
- Place the wheel back onto the hub.
- Screw on the lug nuts, but do not tighten them completely.
10. Lower the vehicle.
- Lower the vehicle back down to the ground using the jack.
11. Tighten the lug nuts.
- Use the lug wrench to tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern until they are snug.
12. Test drive your vehicle.
- Take your Oldsmobile Alero for a test drive to make sure the wheel bearing is functioning properly.
The process of replacing the wheel bearings of your Oldsmobile Alero is now complete.
