Instructions:

1. Park your Cadillac DeVille on a flat surface and turn off the engine. Allow it to cool down completely.

2. Raise the hood and secure it in the open position.

3. Locate the starter. The starter is located on the passenger side of the engine, at the bottom of the cylinder head. It is a cylindrical, metal object with wires connected to it.

4. Disconnect the battery. This will prevent you from accidentally starting the engine while you are working on the starter.

5. Remove the starter mounting bolts. There are two bolts that hold the starter to the engine. Use a socket wrench to loosen the bolts, and then remove them by hand.

6. Remove the starter wires. There are two wires that connect the starter to the engine. Use a pry bar to pry the wires off of the terminals.

7. Remove the starter. Once the starter is disconnected from the engine, you can remove it by pulling it straight out.

8. Inspect the starter. Before installing the new starter, inspect the old one for any damage. Look for cracks, chips, or other signs of damage. If the old starter is damaged, replace it with a new one.

9. Install the new starter. To install the new starter, simply insert it into the position where the old starter was located. Make sure that the starter mounting bolts are aligned with the holes in the engine.

10. Install the starter mounting bolts. Thread the starter mounting bolts into the holes in the engine, and then tighten them using a socket wrench.

11. Connect the starter wires. Reconnect the starter wires to the terminals on the starter using the pry bar.

12. Install the battery terminal connector. Reconnect the positive and negative battery terminal connectors, making sure that they are tight and secure.

13. Test the starter. Turn the key in the ignition to the "Start" position. The starter should engage and turn the engine over. If the starter does not engage, check the connections and make sure that the starter is properly installed.
