1. Park your vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
2. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position without starting the engine.
3. Shift the transfer case into the 4WD Low range.
4. Engage the front hubs, if applicable.
5. Press and hold the 4WD button on the dashboard. The 4WD indicator light should illuminate on the instrument panel.
6. Start the engine.
7. Drive the vehicle forward slowly and turn the steering wheel from side to side. The 4WD system should engage and the front wheels should turn in unison with the rear wheels.
8. Drive the vehicle over rough terrain or snow-covered roads to further test the 4WD system.
If the 4WD system does not engage or is not working properly, there may be a problem with the 4WD motor, transfer case, front hubs, or other components of the 4WD system. You will need to have the vehicle diagnosed by a qualified mechanic to determine the cause of the problem.
