How do you remove the front bumper to replace headlight housing?

Removing the Front Bumper to Replace a Headlight Housing

Tools and materials:

* Phillips screwdriver

* Flathead screwdriver

* socket wrench with extension

* new headlight housing

* replacement screws

Instructions:

1. Open the hood of your car.

2. Remove the four Phillips head screws that hold the plastic cover over the headlights in place.

3. Pry up on the plastic cover using a flathead screwdriver, starting from one of the corners. Be careful not to snap the plastic.

4. Remove the plastic cover completely.

5. Locate the two bolts located on the top of the front bumper, one on each side.

6. Use a socket wrench to loosen the bolts. Do not remove them completely.

7. Open the hood of your car.

8. Locate the two bolts located at the bottom of the front bumper, one on each side.

9. Use a socket wrench to loosen the bolts. Do not remove them completely.

10. Locate the two plastic tabs located on the inside of the front bumper, one on each side.

11. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry up on the plastic tabs.

12. Pull the front bumper straight forward to remove it from the car.

13. Unplug the electrical connectors for the headlights.

14. Remove the old headlight housing by removing the four screws that hold it in place.

15. Install the new headlight housing by inserting it into the opening and securing it with the four screws.

16. Reconnect the electrical connectors for the headlights.

17. Reinstall the front bumper by sliding it back into place and securing it with the two bolts at the top and two bolts at the bottom.

18. Tighten the bolts until they are snug.

19. Locate the two plastic tabs on the inside of the front bumper on either side.

20. Press the two plastic tabs on the inside of the front bumper down until they click into place.

21. Reinstall the plastic cover over the headlights by placing it in position and securing it with the four screws.

Replacing a headlight housing is a relatively simple task that can be completed in about an hour. By following the instructions above, you can safely and easily remove and replace your headlight housing.
