What do you after Replacing distributor on 350 vortec 1998 when the old position was not marked i need to get tdc again?

Step 1: Find TDC of cylinder #1

1. Remove the spark plug from cylinder #1.

2. Insert a long, thin object (such as a wooden dowel or a piece of coat hanger) into the spark plug hole.

3. Slowly rotate the crankshaft while watching the object in the spark plug hole. When the piston is at the top of its compression stroke, the object will be at its highest point.

4. Mark the position of the crankshaft with a piece of chalk or paint.

5. Remove the object from the spark plug hole and reinstall the spark plug.

Step 2: Install the distributor

1. Position the distributor so that the rotor is pointing towards the mark that you made on the crankshaft.

2. Turn The Oil Pump Shaft until the slot aligns With the Distributor Driver

3. Install the distributor hold-down clamp and tighten it securely.

Step 3: Check the timing

1. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.

2. Connect a timing light to the engine and aim it at the timing mark on the crankshaft.

3. Adjust the timing until the mark is at the specified degree (check the manufacturer's specifications for your engine).

4. Tighten the distributor hold-down clamp and turn off the engine.

Your distributor should now be installed and timed correctly.
