How to Replace a Head Gasket on a 1993 Nissan 240 SX

Tools Needed:

- Socket set

- Wrench set

- Allen wrench set

- Pliers

- Screwdrivers

- Gasket scraper

- Thread sealant

- New head gasket

Instructions:

1. Park your car in a safe location and allow the engine to cool down.

2. Remove the negative battery cable.

3. Drain the coolant from the radiator.

4. Remove the air intake system.

5. Remove the valve cover.

6. Remove the timing chain cover.

7. Remove the exhaust manifold.

8. Remove the cylinder head bolts and remove the cylinder head.

9. Clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder head and engine block.

10. Apply a thin layer of thread sealant to the cylinder head bolts.

11. Carefully position the new head gasket onto the engine block.

12. Install the cylinder head bolts and tighten them in a crisscross pattern to the specified torque.

13. Replace the timing chain cover.

14. Replace the valve cover.

15. Replace the air intake system.

16. Refill the cooling system with coolant.

17. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

18. Start the engine and allow it to run for a few minutes. Inspect for any leaks.
