1. Disconnect the negative(-) battery cable before beginning.
2.Locate negative battery terminal cable(usually black).
3. Use wrench to loosen and remove the nut holding cable in place.
4. Slide the cable off of the terminal.
5. Push a piece of cardboard or suitable non-conductor between battery and cable.
Drain System:
1. Place large drain pan under water pump of engine.
2. Locate drain cock at lower, front of engine behind water pump.
3. Place open end wrench on nut or bolt of drain cock.
4. Open the cock and allow all the coolant to drain from system.
Remove Fan Belt:
1. Turn belt tensioner counter-clockwise to loosen belt.
2. Slip the belt off of water pump pulley.
3. Set the belt aside.
Remove Water Pump:
1. Locate water pump at the front of engine with attached radiator hose and drive belt and pulley near bottom.
2. Place drain pan under water pump.
3. Disconnect any hoses or electrical connectors attached to water pump.
4. Use an open end wrench to loosen and remove the bolts or nuts that secure the water pump to engine.
5. Gently pry pump loose with flat pry tool if stuck to the gasket or engine block.
Install New Pump:
1. Apply a thin coat of sealant to gasket of water pump.
2. Carefully place the new water pump onto the mounting surface.
3. Secure the water pump with the mounting bolts that were removed in a crisscross pattern.
4. Tighten bolts until they are snug, then tighten another 1/4 to 1/2 turn.
5. Reinstall the fan belt.
6. Reinstall the hoses and electrical connectors that were removed.
Refill Coolant:
1. Replace draincock or plug.
2. Use funnel to add coolant through radiator neck until full.
3. Start the engine and let run with heater on high setting.
4. Keep a close eye on coolant temperature.
5. Once engine reaches operating temperature, shut it off and recheck coolant level. Add coolant if needed.
6. Test drive the vehicle to make sure the water pump is working properly and check for any leaks.
