There are two exhaust manifolds to the exhaust. Bank 1 refers to the exhaust pipe that the number one cylinder exhausts to. Since a V6 engine has two exhaust pipes, the opposite pipe is the number 2 bank. The numbers refer to the sensor's position in the bank. Therefore, bank 2 sensor 1 is the first oxygen sensor after the catalytic converter, located on the number 2 "Bank" of the exhaust system.
