1. Gather the necessary tools and materials.
- Philips head screwdriver
- Flathead screwdriver
- Wire cutters/strippers
- Electrical tape
- Replacement speakers (4) that are compatible with your Altima's sound system.
2. Disconnect the battery.
- Open the hood of your Altima and locate the battery.
- Use a wrench to loosen the negative (black) battery terminal bolt and remove the cable.
- This will prevent any electrical accidents while you're working on the speakers.
3. Remove the door panels.
- Begin by prying the plastic cover off the door handle with a flathead screwdriver.
- Remove the screws underneath the cover.
- Gently pry the door panel up, starting from the bottom, until it pops off the clips that hold it in place.
- Set the door panel aside in a safe place.
4. Remove the old speakers.
- Use a Philips head screwdriver to remove the screws holding the speaker in place.
- Disconnect the speaker wires by pressing down on the tabs on the connectors and pulling them apart.
- Remove the old speaker from the door.
5. Install the new speakers.
- Place the new speaker in the mounting hole and secure it with the screws that you removed in the previous step.
- Connect the speaker wires to the new speaker by pushing them into the connectors until they click into place.
6. Reinstall the door panels.
- Carefully align the door panel with the clips in the door and press it back down until it snaps back into place.
- Replace the screws underneath the door handle cover and snap the cover back into place.
7. Repeat steps 3-6 for the other three doors.
8. Reconnect the battery.
- Reattach the negative (black) battery terminal cable to the battery and tighten the bolt.
9. Test the speakers.
- Turn on the ignition and your Altima's sound system.
- Play some music to test that the new speakers are working properly.
