- Locate the negative battery terminal on your vehicle's battery.
- Use a wrench to loosen the nut holding the negative battery cable in place and remove the cable.
Step 2: Remove the starter guard:
- Locate the starter guard, which is a metal cover that protects the starter motor.
- Remove the bolts that hold the starter guard in place and set aside.
Step 3: Disconnect the starter wires:
- There are two wires connected to the starter motor: the power wire and the solenoid wire.
- Disconnect these wires by removing the nuts that hold them in place.
Step 4: Remove the bolts holding the starter in place:
- There are usually two to three bolts that hold the starter motor in place.
- Use a wrench to loosen and remove these bolts.
Step 5: Remove the starter motor:
- Once the bolts are removed, you can remove the starter motor from the vehicle.
- Be careful not to drop it.
Step 6: Install the new starter motor:
- Place the new starter motor in position and secure it with the bolts you removed in Step 4.
- Tighten the bolts until they are snug.
Step 7: Reconnect the starter wires:
- Reconnect the power wire and the solenoid wire to the starter motor.
- Secure the wires with the nuts you removed in Step 3.
Step 8: Reinstall the starter guard:
- Replace the starter guard and secure it with the bolts you removed in Step 2.
Step 9: Reconnect the battery:
- Reconnect the negative battery cable to the negative battery terminal.
- Tighten the nut until it is snug.
