How do you a clutch adjustment on 1999 Hyundai accent?

To adjust the clutch on a 1999 Hyundai Accent, follow these steps:

1. Tools needed:

* 17 mm wrench

* 30 mm wrench

* Phillips screwdriver

2. Park your car on a flat surface and turn off the engine.

3. Pop the hood and locate the clutch cable at the back of the engine. It's connected to the clutch fork and pedal.

4. Loosen the two bolts (one at the top and one at the bottom) holding the clutch cable to the clutch fork using the 17 mm wrench.

5. Adjust the clutch cable by rotating the threaded barrel where the cable connects to the clutch fork.

* To loosen: Turn the barrel counterclockwise

* To tighten: Turn the barrel clockwise

6. Once the desired adjustment is achieved, tighten the two bolts holding the clutch cable to the clutch fork.

7. Move inside the car, locate the clutch pedal and ensure that it has about 1/2 to 1 inch of free play (travel) before you feel resistance.

8. Test the clutch engagement. Start the engine and press the clutch pedal all the way down. Shift into gear and release the pedal slowly. If the car starts jerking or stalling, the clutch needs further adjustment.

9. Repeat steps 4-7 until you achieve a smooth clutch engagement.

It's important to make small adjustments to avoid making the clutch too loose or too tight. If the clutch is not adjusted properly, it can cause the transmission to grind during shifts, make shifting difficult, or even damage the transmission.
