Procedure:
1. Park the 4Runner on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
2. Loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheels.
3. Jack up the rear of the 4Runner until the wheels are off the ground.
4. Place jack stands under the frame of the 4Runner to support it.
5. Remove the lug nuts and wheels.
6. Remove the four 17mm bolts that secure the rear axle to the leaf springs.
7. Remove the two 19mm nuts that secure the driveshaft to the differential.
8. Disconnect the parking brake cables from the rear axle.
9. Use a pry bar to pry the rear axle out of the leaf springs.
10. Lower the 4Runner from the jack stands.
Tips:
- Make sure that the 4Runner is securely parked and supported before you begin working on it.
- Use safety glasses and gloves to protect yourself from injury.
- If the rear axle is stuck, you may need to use a breaker bar to loosen the bolts.
