1. Park the vehicle in a safe location.
Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Open the rear liftgate of the vehicle.
Ensure the rear liftgate fully opens to accommodate access to the backup lights.
3. Locate the backup light assembly.
The backup light assembly is located on the rear of the vehicle, near the license plate. It is typically embedded within the taillight housing.
4. Remove the bolts securing the taillight assembly.
Use a suitable socket wrench to remove the bolts or screws that secure the taillight assembly to the vehicle. There are typically two bolts or screws on each side of the assembly.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector for the backup light.
Once the bolts or screws are removed, carefully disconnect the electrical connector that powers the backup light from its socket.
6. Remove the backup light bulb from its socket.
Twist or gently push the backup light bulb counterclockwise to remove it from its socket. Be careful not to drop the bulb.
7. Install a new backup light bulb.
Gently insert the new backup light bulb into the bulb socket. Make sure to twist or push it clockwise until it locks in place.
8. Reconnect the electrical connector.
Reconnect the electrical connector that powers the backup light.
9. Reinstall the taillight assembly.
Place the taillight assembly back into position and secure it using the bolts or screws you removed earlier.
10. Close the liftgate and test the backup light.
Close the rear liftgate of the vehicle and turn on the headlights to test the backup light. Make sure the new backup light is functioning correctly.
