How do you change the wheel bearing on a 1994 Honda Accord ex vtec with abs?

Tools and Materials:

- Jack and jack stands

- Lug wrench

- Socket set

- Torque wrench

- Flat-head screwdriver

- New wheel bearing assembly

- Grease

Instructions:

1. Park your car on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

2. Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel that you will be changing the bearing on, but do not remove them completely.

3. Use a jack and jack stands to raise the car until the wheel is off the ground.

4. Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.

5. Use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the dust cap from the hub.

6. Use a socket to loosen the axle nut.

7. Use a punch and hammer to knock out the cotter pin from the tie rod end.

8. Use a pickle fork to pry the tie rod end apart from the steering knuckle.

9. Use a socket to loosen the lower ball joint nut and then use a ball joint separator to separate the ball joint from the steering knuckle.

10. Remove the caliper and brake rotor.

11. Use a slide hammer to remove the axle from the hub.

12. Remove the old wheel bearing assembly from the hub.

13. Use a grinder or file to remove any rust or debris from the hub and bearing seat.

14. Apply a generous amount of grease to the new bearing assembly and place it into the hub.

15. Use the slide hammer to press the axle back through the hub.

16. Replace the caliper and brake rotor.

17. Reattach the tie rod end to the steering knuckle and insert a new cotter pin.

18. Tighten the axle nut.

19. Replace the dust cap.

20. Reattach the wheel and tighten the lug nuts.

21. Lower the car and remove the jack stands.

22. Tighten the lug nuts to 90 ft-lbs.

Tips:

- If you do not have a slide hammer, you can also use a hammer and block of wood to remove the axle.

- Be careful when removing the brake caliper not to damage the brake lines.
