How do you change the neutral safetey switch in a 1978 Chevy Malibu?

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the center console.

3. Locate the neutral safety switch on the transmission. It is a small, black switch with two wires connected to it.

4. Disconnect the wires from the neutral safety switch.

5. Remove the two bolts that hold the neutral safety switch in place.

6. Pull the neutral safety switch out of the transmission.

7. Install the new neutral safety switch in the transmission.

8. Replace the two bolts that hold the neutral safety switch in place.

9. Connect the wires to the neutral safety switch.

10. Replace the center console.

11. Connect the negative battery cable.

12. Test the neutral safety switch to make sure it is working properly.
