1. The fuel filter on a 2000 Hyundai Accent is located under the rear passenger seat.
Replacement Procedure
1. To replace the fuel filter, follow these steps:
- Disengage the fuel line using the quick disconnect tool or use a flat-head screwdriver and release the fuel line from the fuel filter by pressing the release tabs on the fuel line connector; be sure to place a rag underneath to catch any spilled fuel.
- Unbolt the Fuel Filter Bracket
- Remove the fuel filter and the O-rings from the fuel line connector and fuel filter bracket; discard the O-rings; be sure to clean the fuel line connector and the fuel filter bracket to remove any debris before installing the new fuel filter.
- Install the new fuel filter (with the arrow on the fuel filter pointing toward the fuel pump) and new O-rings into the fuel line connector and fuel filter bracket; tighten the fuel filter bracket bolt
- Re-engage the fuel line using the quick disconnect tool by depressing the outer lip of the fuel line connector and pushing the fuel line connector into the port of the fuel filter until the fuel line connector “snaps” into place; be sure that the fuel line is connected properly and there are no leaks.
- Start the engine and check for any leaks; allow the engine to run for a few minutes to circulate the fuel through the system.
