1. Gather the necessary tools and parts. You will need a Phillips head screwdriver, a flat head screwdriver, and a new door latch.
2. Open the rear door and remove the inner door panel. To do this, remove the screws that hold the panel in place and pry it off using the flat head screwdriver.
3. Locate the door latch assembly. It is located on the inside of the door, near the door handle.
4. Detach the door latch linkage. Disconnect the linkage rods that connect the door latch to the door handle and lock.
5. Remove the bolts that hold the latch assembly in place. There will be two bolts, one on the top and one on the bottom.
6. Pull the old door latch out of the door.
7. Install the new door latch. Insert the new door latch into the door and align the mounting holes with the holes in the door.
8. Install the bolts that hold the latch assembly in place. Tighten the bolts securely.
9. Reconnect the door latch linkage. Connect the linkage rods that connect the door latch to the door handle and lock.
10. Test the door latch to ensure it is working properly. Open and close the door several times to make sure the latch engages and disengages properly.
11. Reinstall the inner door panel. Replace the screws that hold the panel in place and snap the panel back into place.
12. Test the door latch again to make sure it is working properly.
