2. Remove the distributor cap. There are two screws that hold the cap in place.
3. Locate the rotor. The rotor is a small, round piece of metal that is located inside the distributor cap.
4. Align the rotor with the number 1 spark plug wire terminal. The number 1 spark plug wire terminal is located on the front of the distributor cap, closest to the engine.
5. Install the distributor cap. Make sure that the cap is seated properly and that the screws are tight.
6. Start the engine.
7. Turn the distributor until the engine reaches its highest idle speed.
8. Tighten the distributor hold-down bolt.
9. Reinstall the distributor cap.
