1. Make sure the parking brake lever is completely disengaged. It should be pushed down or released as far as it can go.
2. If the emergency brake light is still on, try turning the ignition off and then back on.
3. If the light is still on, there may be a problem with the parking brake mechanism or switch. You may need to have it inspected by a qualified mechanic.
Option 2: Check brake light switch
1. Locate the brake light switch. It is usually located under the dashboard, near the brake pedal.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the brake light switch.
3. Turn on the ignition. If the emergency brake light is now off, the brake light switch is defective and needs to be replaced.
4. If the emergency brake light is still on, the problem may be with the wiring or another component of the brake system. You may need to have it inspected by a qualified mechanic.
Option 3: Check bulb
1. Make sure the brake light bulbs are not burned out.
Option 4: Check fuse
1. Check brake fuse. Check the fuse box under the hood. See your owner’s manual for fuse location.
