1. Park the car in a safe location and turn off the engine. Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels if necessary.
2. Locate the gear knob release button. On most Honda CR-Vs, this button is located on the side of the gear knob.
3. Press the gear knob release button and lift the gear knob straight up. The gear knob may be held on by a spring clip, so you may need to use some force to remove it.
4. Once the gear knob is removed, you can access the shift linkage and perform any necessary repairs or replacements.
5. To reinstall the gear knob, simply insert it into the shift linkage and press down until it clicks into place. Make sure that the gear knob is securely fastened before driving the car.
