.Gather your tools and materials:
You'll need a jack and jack stands, a set of wrenches, a flat-head screwdriver, a Phillips-head screwdriver, a fuel filter wrench, and a new fuel pump.
Prepare your vehicle:
Put on safety glasses and gloves. Park your vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down. Jack up the front of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
Remove the fuel tank:
Locate the fuel tank under the vehicle. Disconnect the fuel lines and electrical connectors attached to the fuel tank. Use the flat-head screwdriver to remove the retaining ring holding the fuel pump in place. Remove the fuel pump and filter from the fuel tank.
Replace the fuel pump:
Insert the new fuel pump and filter into the fuel tank. Secure the fuel pump with the retaining ring. Reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connectors.
Lower the fuel tank:
Slowly lower the fuel tank back into place. Make sure the fuel lines and electrical connectors are properly connected.
Start the vehicle:
Start the vehicle and check for any leaks around the fuel tank and fuel pump. If there are no leaks, the fuel pump replacement is complete.
It's important to note that working with the fuel system can be dangerous if proper precautions are not taken. If you're not comfortable performing this task, it's best to have the fuel pump replaced by a qualified mechanic.
