1. Gather Tools and Parts
- New wheel bearing assembly
- Socket set
- Wrenches
- Flathead screwdriver
- Hammer
2. Prepare the Car
- Engage the parking brake.
- Chock the wheels on the opposite side of the car you will be working on to prevent it from rolling.
- Jack up the car and secure it with jack stands.
- Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Remove Brake Caliper
- Unbolt the brake caliper and hang it out of the way. Be sure not to let it hang by the brake line.
4. Remove Brake Rotor
- Remove the brake rotor by pulling it straight off the wheel hub.
5. Remove Hub Nut
- Use a socket to remove the hub nut.
6. Separate Ball Joints
- Use a pry bar or flathead screwdriver to separate the ball joints from the lower control arm.
7. Remove Driveshaft
- Pull the driveshaft straight out of the wheel bearing.
8. Remove the Wheel Bearing
- Use a hammer and flathead screwdriver to pry the old bearing out of its seat.
9. Install the New Bearing
- Place the new wheel bearing in the seat and tap it in place with a hammer until it is fully seated.
10. Reassemble
- Reattach the driveshaft, ball joints, brake rotor, brake caliper, and wheel.
11. Tighten Lug Nuts
- Tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern to 85 ft-lbs.
12. Lower the Car
- Remove the jack stands and lower the car.
13. Test Drive
- Take the car for a test drive to ensure the wheel bearing is working properly.
